Health risk assessment for users of community-based water management system based on Water Safety Planning approach

Research Abstract

Community-based water management system is a generic term for small-scale water supply systems managed autonomously mainly by local residents. They play an important role in water supply in low population density areas. These water management systems have achieved low-cost operation by utilizing high-quality water sources and the skills of their managers, and therefore deserve attention as a model for sustainable water infrastructure. On the other hand, they are vulnerable to sudden contamination due to their heavy dependence on good quality water sources, which poses a challenge in terms of health risk management. In this study, a health risk assessment based on a water safety plan is conducted with the aim of developing better operational methods for these water supply systems.
