Life cycle assessments of wastewater treatment systems for identifying sustainable solutions with the approach of multiple objective optimizations

Research Abstract

Ensuring Clean Water and Sanitation stands 6th out of the 17 Sustainable Goals listed by the United Nations Organization. To this date, several water supply systems and wastewater treatment systems are available to ensure proper drinking and sanitation standards all over the world. However, a prodigious opportunity to provide a compacted overview of feasible water supply/wastewater treatment systems containing the entire phase from water usage to disposal is still prevailing. This study aims to evaluate and propose sustainable and easily adaptable water supply systems that will simultaneously minimize environmental and financial burden by performing Life cycle assessments (LCA) and implying multiple objective optimizations.
